Kristian studied homoeopathy at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), completing his Masters Degree in Homoeopathy in 2006, which included clinical training and a master’s research project under Dr Ashley Ross. He is currently registered with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA) as a Homoeopathic Doctor.
Kristian entered private practice in Stellenbosch in April 2007, with his wife, Dr Alta Vogel. In 2008, he began lecturing at the School of Natural Medicine (University of the Western Cape), and is currently the coordinator of the clinical sciences, lecturing Pathology, General Medicine and Clinical Diagnosis to 3rd and 4th year students.
Kristian completed a PhD through the Department of Medical Bioscience (UWC), graduating in 2014. This was done under the guidance of Professors Ralf Henkel (UWC) and Patrick Bouic (University of Stellenbosch). As an active academic and homoeopathic clinician, his research focus is aimed at the metabolic syndrome, chronic inflammation and the affect on male fertility, as well as herbal interventions within this context. This research has continued, and Kristian currently supervises MSc and PhD research students within this broad field of study, including the application of herbal extracts as potential therapeutic options.
This research focus has resulted in peer reviewed publications in respected international journals, attendance and research presentations at national and international scientific meetings. This included recognition in the form of an international award for the Outstanding New Investigator by the American Society of Reproductive Immunology in Boston, USA (2013). His research has also resulted in a Scholarship for advanced immunology training by the German Society for Immunology, taking place in Germany (2014). Kristian is also a regular peer review expert for numerous international scientific journals. His research focus, alongside his clinical focal areas, include the complex mechanisms between obesity, immune dysregulation, low testosterone in males and male reproductive dysfunction, as well as potential holistic therapeutic options.

In 2014, Kristian also completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Leanring in Higher Eduction (PG Dip TL HE), specifically aimed to improve teaching and learning skills to promote student education and training.
Kristian has a passion for teaching, both in formal academic context as well as in educating the public in terms of health, disease and the role of natural medicine and homoeopathy in the health care sector. He has written numerous articles, some published online, and others in the South African Journal of Natural Medicine. Many of these can be found on this website. He also has done numerous public presentations on various medical topics, natural medicine and homoeopathy. You may contact him to find out when he will be giving further talks.
Clinically, Kristian has a special interest in the diagnostics and holistic treatment of various metabolic, endocrine, immunological and reproductive conditions. This is a broad range of conditions, but typically the solutions are not simple and are generally individualised.
